…when Deresiewicz writes that our generation has “no anger, no edge, no ego,” he’s missing the point. For many of us, entrepreneurship is our anger, our edge, and our ego. It is our social movement.
From Thoughts on Reluctant Entrepreneurship, by Danny Alexander. This is in response to this article. via @SSIReview
I agree with Danny here in that there is plenty of anger, edge, and ego. A lot of people in my generation felt screwed over by the economy and our education system. Many of us, including my friends and I, gave it our all and worked our asses off only to find a desolate economic landscape after graduation. (I graduated in 2009.)
That is why entrepreneurship became our weapon of choice. We realized that our current lifestyle, economic processes, and definition of “a good life” was leading us towards social destruction. Diving into entrepreneurship is our optimistic and idealistic way of charting a new path towards the future we want, that is also prosperous and sustainable.
